As the breastfeeding relationship evolves, there is a rainbow of circumstances that can lead families to seek feeding support from an IBCLC. McKelle provides compassionate care with collaborative care plans to achieve breastfeeding goals, as defined by families. Her skill set is expansive and growing as she considers herself a life-long student in the field of lactation. She has developed a love for the nursing relationship, personally and professionally, and is an advocate for all breastfeeding/pumping/postpartum parents.

McKelle has expert training in:

  • latch difficulties
  • utilizing infant reflexes to improve feeding
  • evaluation and habilitation of oral restrictions
  • oral aversion, breast and bottle refusal
  • oversupply / hyperlactation / "overactive" letdown
  • low supply
  • pumping / flange fit
  • medically complex feeding experiences (i.e. NICU babies, swallowing disorders, cleft palate, down syndrome, heart conditions)
  • Gentle Therapeutic Breast Massage
  • prenatal education and consulting
  • going back to work
  • nursing into toddlerhood

McKelle studied Health Promotion and Education at the University of Utah, graduating Summa Cum Laude. After a 3-year lactation mentorship, she became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in January 2024.

When McKelle isn't helping breastfeeding families, she is likely in the mountains with her kids. She loves XC skiing, hiking, backpacking, biking, knitting, reading, and traveling.
